UNISTONE Wall Putty

UniStone Wall Putty is superior quality product made from white cement and high strength polymer binders. It provides the perfect base in exteriors & interiors over any cementitious surface like plaster, concrete, hollow block, silicate bricks etc. The specific advantage is that it provides a damp resistant smooth surface for all kinds of paints.

Surface Preparation

WALL PUTTY MIXING

Scrub with wire brush
Clean prepared surface with water
Always add water to putty and not vice-versa

APPLICATION

Clean and just-wet the surface before applying UniStone Wall putty
Apply first coat from bottom to top direction with a putty blade
Clean the surface with a dry cloth and then with a wet cloth
Wait for 4 hours in hot season wait for 12 hours in cold season
Apply second coat from side to side
Wait for 3 days
Smoothen the surface with fine emery paper before applying paint if necessary
When surface is dry, apply paint

SURFACE PREPARATION

New Surface
First remove dust, dirt and foreign matter by washing with water and using a wire brush. Repair any cracks, voids or uneven plaster. The surface should be in just-wet condition, before putty application.

Old Painted Surface
Remove all the old adherent paint until the bare plastered surface is visible. This can be achieved by rubbing with a wire brush and sandpaper. Then wash the surface with water ensuring a just-wet surface before putty application.

Uneven Rough Surface
Since UniStone Wall Putty cannot be applied in a thickness of more than 1.5 mm, very rough uneven surfaces should be levelled with cement mortar and cured for 2 days before starting the putty application.

Wall Near Skirting
This can be a problem area because, during the grinding of the floor and skirting, a slurry deposition occurs on the wall adjacent to the skirting. Therefore in such cases, properly scrape and remove the deposited slurry before putty application.

Plaster Showing Efflorescence
Efflorescence is a white salt deposit occurring on plasters due to salt in sand, bricks or water. The usual treatment of efflorescence is to wash with a mild acid like citric acid or dilute hydrochloric acid, then scrape with a wire brush and thoroughly wash with water to remove all residual acid. After the plaster has dried apply putty normally.

WALL PUTTY MIXING

  1. 30 to 40% water by volume is required for mixing.
  2. First, take approximately half the required water.
    Mix with unistone wall putty. Wait for a few minutes.
  3. Then add the rest of the water to get the required consistency.
    Mix for 5 – 10 minutes till the smooth creamy paste is obtained.
  4. UniStone wall putty has a pot life of 2 hours i.e. mix only that quantity which can be used within 2 hours or less.
  5. Mixing may be done manually or with an electric mixer.



APPLICATION
Just wet the surface, before putty application.
After applying the first coat, wet the surface gently.
After application of the second coat, during the hot season wet the surface gently twice a day for at least one day.

COVERAGE
The coverage of UniStone Wall Putty on normal plaster is 18 to 20 sq. ft. per kg. for 2 coats maintaining a maximum thickness of 1.5 mm. The coverage depends on the quality of the base surface and the thickness applied.

STORAGE

  • Store UniStone Wall Putty in a dry place.
  • Open the bag only just before use.
  • The storage life of an unopened bag is 6 months
