Project Summary: A Bold Expression of Institutional Design with GRC by Unistone
The Uttarakhand State Disaster Management Authority (USDMA) headquarters in Dehradun is a monumental structure that symbolises governance, resilience, and foresight. Designed by DDF Consultants Pvt. Ltd., constructed by AS ENTERPRISE, and executed by Unistone, this 76,000 sq. ft. project is a remarkable fusion of classical architecture and advanced construction technology.
Unistone played a pivotal role in bringing this architectural vision to life by supplying and installing a full range of GRC (Glass Reinforced Concrete) products. From majestic columns and arches to intricately detailed jalis and handrails, every element was fabricated with precision and purpose.
Unistone GRC – A Perfect Marriage of Strength and Elegance
At the heart of the project is Unistone’s GRC Premium Cultured Stone Cladding – Da Vinci Range, chosen for its refined aesthetics and stone-like texture. This cladding brings the building’s classical facade to life while offering the lightweight durability of modern GRC technology—ideal for seismic zones like Uttarakhand.
Complementing the cladding are towering GRC columns in multiple heights, each with a 300 mm diameter. These columns provide structure and grandeur, forming symmetrical patterns throughout the facade that evoke a sense of authority and timelessness.
The architectural GRC arches, some spanning over 3 meters, gracefully frame the windows and entrances. These are supported by detailed brackets and small arches, all custom-made to match the architectural blueprint.
To enhance the building’s functionality and aesthetics, Unistone provided precast GRC jalis (50 mm thick) and ventilation screens (30 mm thick). These not only regulate airflow but also introduce intricate patterns that celebrate India’s rich architectural heritage.
Every GRC element, from brackets and handrails to screen panels, was developed in Unistone’s specialised facility, ensuring flawless execution and timely delivery.
Unistone’s Role: Delivering Excellence from Concept to Installation
Unistone’s strength lies in its end-to-end project capability—from design consultation and customisation to manufacturing and on-site installation. For USDMA, our team worked closely with the architect and contractor to ensure that each element met the highest standards of design accuracy and durability.
The success of the USDMA project is a reflection of Unistone’s expertise in architectural GRC, attention to detail, and commitment to delivering projects that endure both time and environment.
A New Benchmark in Government Architecture
The USDMA building is not only a critical administrative hub for disaster management in Uttarakhand, but also a visual and structural landmark in Dehradun. With its blend of classical grandeur and modern resilience, it serves as a model for future government infrastructure.
This project adds another feather in Unistone’s cap—showcasing our capability to execute large-scale institutional projects with precision, elegance, and architectural integrity.
